The lab meets twice per week, and may include additional private coaching/tutoring, group meetings, and related performance projects. The first meeting of each week (Session 1) focuses on scholarship (history and analysis) and performance, and the second (Session 2) deals with aspects of language, poetry, and lyric diction. Evaluation is provided through performances in song masterclasses, oral presentations, written research reports, written and oral diction exams, public recital performances, and exercises in German text translation, program note writing, and concert program design.
