THYU 368 American Art Song & 20th-century Tonality
Theoretical study of songs by American Composers active in the 20th century, namely: Barber, Ives, Larsen, Musto and Rorem. Format of study includes: study of analytical methods needed for making musical sense of the songs, study of various styles that comingle in the songs, background on the poets/lyricists, and hands-on analysis of select pieces.
