MTHY 212 Analysis and Composition IV

The course focuses on the introduction of post-tonal harmony and form, including atonality, centricity, referential collections, and triadic post-tonality. The final project has three components: an analysis of a work chosen by the student (for instance, an early 20th-century sectional form or a movement from a larger work); a presentation on the connection between the analysis and performance; and a composition related to the analyzed piece.
