VC 565 Introduction to Vocal Pedagogy: Process,Structure,Function
This course is is geared both towards students who want to learn how to teach voice, and those students who want to learn how to better care for and understand the health of their own instrument. The course will be co-taught by renowned Speech Language Pathologist Carol Krusemark and voice teacher and researcher Mark Tempesta. Principles of good vocal hygiene and practices for self-care will be foregrounded alongside a foundation of the practical knowledge needed to teach voice. The pedagogy portions will provide students the chance to mock teach each-other, observe NEC faculty members teach, and if desired, the opportunity to gain additional teaching experience as a paid voice instructor. Techniques for teaching Classical, jazz and musical theater styles will all be covered.
