MTHY 112 Analysis and Composition II
Focuses on diatonic seventh chords, chromatic harmony, modulations to closely related keys, and sequences (both diatonic and chromatic), as well as the analysis of binary and ternary form. Topics are introduced and/or reinforced through keyboard work and ear training. The final project, which will consist of several phases spread out throughout the semester, will have three components: an analysis of a work chosen by the student, either in binary or ternary form, or an equivalent; a presentation on the connection between the analysis and performance; and a composition related to the analyzed piece.
