FREN 101 French I
This course is the first of two introductory French courses designed for graduate conservatory students. Students will be exposed to and practice basic vocabulary and grammatical structures; through individual, small and large group work, students will begin to develop the four linguistic competencies – reading, writing, speaking, and listening – through exposure to and engagement with authentic multimedia artifacts (music, film, images, press) from the contemporary French-speaking world. Particular attention will be paid to grammar, speaking, and listening in order to develop communication skills and cultural literacies.
