Incompletes

Students unable to complete course requirements as a result of illness, bereavement, or special circumstances may petition for Incompletes; both the instructor and Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs for Advising must approve this petition. Students assume primary responsibility for managing this process, which begins by requesting the Petition for a Grade of Incomplete from the Office of Academic and Student Affairs. The transcript will temporarily note an INC (for Incomplete). Students other than those entering their final semester prior to graduation who receive incompletes must complete all outstanding work no later than the last day of classes of the following semester of attendance, unless an earlier deadline has been stipulated by the instructor. In the case that a grade of incomplete is not resolved by the last day of classes of the following semester, and unless the instructor has authorized otherwise, a failing grade will be administered by the Registrar. Students who carry grades of incomplete into the final semester before graduation must resolve these grades by March 1 (prior to May graduation) or October 15 (prior to December graduation).
